This page is about the Odin’s Eye overlay specifically, and the optional diagnostics you can turn on inside it. For the website and account privacy policy, see the main Privacy Policy.
Odin’s Eye draws a map of what is around you. To do that it reads your own game’s position data read-only — it does not inject into or modify the game. It does not read, display, or store your character name, account, chat, guild, or friends: it has no need for them and does not look for them.
To help us fix map-position bugs (for example a battleground showing your dot slightly off), you can switch on “Send anonymous zone diagnostics” in the overlay under Settings → Debug. It is off unless you turn it on, and you can turn it off again at any time — turning it off stops all sending immediately.
While it is on, about once a minute (and only when something changes) the overlay sends only: the zone id — a number that identifies the area; the map offset the overlay calculated for that zone; your in-game coordinates in that zone (your /loc numbers); and the overlay version and which game (Eden or Blackthorn). That is the complete list.
It does not send or store your character name, your chat, who is near you, or anything about your character — the overlay does not even read those. To confirm the report comes from a real licensed user and to stop abuse, it travels over the same licensed connection the overlay already uses, so your licence key and a one-way machine id go with it exactly as they do for the normal licence check — but they are used only for that check and are never stored with the diagnostics. What we keep carries no licence, no account and no name, so the saved data cannot be traced back to you or your character. We use it only to compare “what the overlay calculated” against “where the zone actually is”, and correct the map.
While it runs, the overlay always checks that your licence is valid — that is required with or without diagnostics, and is covered by the main Privacy Policy. Diagnostics are an extra, optional, off-by-default setting on top of it; turning them off does not affect the licence check.
